Kauaʻi Sunset Dinner Voyage

Kauaʻi Sunset Dinner Adventure

3.5 - 4.5 hrs · 2:00 PM Check-In

Ages 5+

Port Allen

The Nāpali Coast transforms as the afternoon unfolds. Dinner on the water, towering emerald cliffs glowing in the golden light, and nowhere else you need to be for the next few hours. It’s an experience that invites you to slow down, soak it all in, and create the kind of memories that stay with you long after you’ve returned home.

As you journey along the coastline, keep an eye out for dolphins, sea turtles, Hawaiian monk seals, flying fish, and Humpback Whales (Dec – April). Along the way, our experienced captains and crew bring the coastline to life by sharing the history, legends, and local knowledge that makes the Nāpali Coast as fascinating as it is beautiful, all while you enjoy delicious food, refreshing drinks, and one of Kauaʻi’s most unforgettable evenings on the water.

Two Ways to Spend Your Evening

Both Nāpali sunset tours are built around the same experience: good food, cold drinks, ocean wildlife, and time spent along the Nāpali cliffs in the afternoon glow. The choice comes down to whether you’d prefer a shorter cruise aboard Holoholo or a longer evening aboard Leila with the opportunity to sail, conditions permitting.

Surprising Flexibility

Out here, nature is in control. That’s part of the adventure, and part of what makes Kauaʻi so special.

If weather or ocean conditions require us to change routes, you’ll always have a choice: join us for plan B, or reschedule or cancel at no cost. Because conditions can shift hour to hour, our captains make route decisions the day of the tour based on real-time ocean conditions.

And if Holoholo cancels for weather, ocean conditions, or operational reasons, you’ll receive a full refund.

Comfortable Boat

Choose between Holoholo, our custom-built 65-foot power catamaran, or Leila, our 50-foot motorized sailing catamaran, single-level vessels give us more stability in Kauaʻi’s ever-changing conditions.

Wide catamaran designs provide extra stability and plenty of room to move around onboard.

Open-air seating, shaded cabin areas, and panoramic views of the Nāpali Coast throughout the evening.
Built-in bars, onboard restrooms, and attentive crew service designed to keep the evening comfortable from start to finish.

Leila offers the experience of traveling under sail (conditions permitting), while Holoholo provides a faster route to your evening along the coastline.

Experienced local captains and crew focused on safety, comfort, and reading changing ocean conditions throughout the tour

These Sunsets Stay With You.

This is what makes this such a different kind of dinner reservation.

  • The Nāpali Coast at Golden Hour

The Nāpali Coast looks different in the evening. The cliffs catch that golden hour magic, waterfalls glow against the green valleys, and the coastline starts to quiet down as the sun moves toward the horizon. Being out on the water at that hour feels completely different than seeing the coast in the middle of the day.

Your captain and crew will guide the journey along this remote stretch of Kauaʻi while sharing stories, local history, and knowledge about the coastline. Every evening unfolds a little differently depending on the weather, light, and ocean conditions, but a Hawaiian sunset on the water has a way of staying with people long after the trip is over.

    Dinner + Drinks

Good food just tastes better out here. Dinner is freshly prepared on Kauaʻi and served onboard alongside cold drinks, local beer, wine, hard seltzers, and Holoholo’s signature Koloa Rum Mai Tai.

The atmosphere stays casual and easygoing throughout the evening. People settle in, grab another drink, trade stories, and spend some uninterrupted time enjoying the coastline with nowhere else they need to be.

    Wildlife Encounters

The waters along the Nāpali Coast are home to dolphins, green sea turtles, flying fish, seabirds, and, during winter months, migrating humpback whales. No two evenings on the water are exactly the same, but wildlife sightings are always part of the fun of being out there.

Our captains and crew keep a close watch throughout the trip and approach wildlife respectfully, giving guests the chance to experience these animals in their natural environment without disrupting them.

    Leila: Sunset Under Sail

Conditions permitting, guests aboard Leila may also experience the Nāpali Coast under sail as the afternoon settles into the evening. Traveling across the water powered by wind has a completely different feel: quieter, slower, and deeply connected to the ocean around you. Because ocean conditions change day to day, every sail is a little different.

    Comfortable Catamarans

Both Holoholo and Leila were built on Kauaʻi for local ocean conditions, with wide catamaran designs that provide extra stability and plenty of space to move around onboard. Open-air seating, shaded cabin areas, onboard restrooms, and panoramic coastline views help make the experience comfortable throughout the evening.

The Holoholo offers a faster-paced trip to and from the coastline aboard our spacious power catamaran, while Leila provides a longer evening and the experience of traveling aboard our locally-built motorized sailing catamaran, conditions permitting.

    Local Crew
+ Stories

Our captains and crew have spent years exploring the Nāpali Coast and sharing it with guests from around the world. Throughout the evening, you’ll hear stories about Kauaʻi’s history, geology, wildlife, and culture from people who genuinely love calling this place home.

Beyond keeping the evening safe and running smoothly, the crew helps shape the atmosphere onboard: welcoming, relaxed, attentive, and deeply connected to this place. They’re here to answer questions, refill drinks, point out wildlife, and help you experience this side of Kauaʻi in a way that feels personal and real.

    Frequently asked questions

    The Ultimate Way to Unwind

What's the difference between the two sunset tours?

The main difference between our sunset tours is the vessel and overall pace of the experience.

Both tours follow the same route along the Nāpali Coast and include the same dinner, drinks, storytelling, and overall experience. The 3.5-hour Nāpali Sunset Dinner Tour is operated on Holoholo, our 65-foot powered catamaran, offering the fastest route to and from the coastline.

The 4.5-hour Nāpali Sunset Sail is operated on Leila, our 50-foot motorized sailing catamaran. Because Leila travels at a slower pace, we allow extra time to reach the coast—and when conditions permit, we’ll raise the sails for a more traditional and relaxed sailing experience.

If you’re looking for a quicker, efficient trip, Holoholo is a great choice. If you prefer a more leisurely pace with the possibility of sailing, Leila offers a more laid-back experience.

I have dietary restrictions; can you accommodate me?

All of our tours include a thoughtfully prepared pre-set menu, and we’re happy to note any dietary restrictions ahead of your tour.

While we’re unable to customize individual meals, we work closely with our caterers to offer a fresh, varied menu that typically includes options suitable for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten sensitivities.

We’re also happy to provide a detailed menu with allergen information so you can review in advance and feel confident in your choices. If you have specific concerns, our team is always here to help guide you.

What if we don't see the sunset?

Nature doesn’t always stick to the plan. Clouds or changing weather can affect the view, but the experience is about much more than the moment the sun reaches the horizon. You’ll still enjoy an evening on the water beneath the cliffs of the Nāpali Coast, with dinner, drinks, the opportunity to spot wildlife, and views of the coastline as daylight fades.

What do you do if the weather is bad? Do you cancel tours due to weather?

Ocean conditions, such as wind and swell, are the primary factors that may lead to a cancellation or route adjustment. If conditions require a change to the route or experience, our Captain will clearly communicate this at check-in, and you’ll have the option to continue, reschedule, or receive a full refund.

If we cancel your tour due to weather, you will receive a full refund.

We do not cancel tours due to rain alone unless there are safety concerns, such as active lightning on the water. It’s common for it to be raining on land while conditions remain clear out on the water.

Safety is always our top priority. Ocean conditions in Hawaiʻi can change quickly, so our team continuously monitors forecasts and real-time conditions. If adjustments to the route or experience are needed, we believe in full transparency so you can make the best decision for your day.

If you have any questions or need assistance, our team is always here to help.

    Are there restrooms on board?

Yes, all of our vessels are equipped with onboard restrooms. Our marine heads are compact but fully functional, providing what you need while out on the water.

What can I do about motion sickness?

If you’re prone to motion sickness—or unsure—it’s best to take preventative medication before your tour.

If you regularly experience severe seasickness, a Holoholo boat tour may not be the best fit.

Our tours take place in the open ocean, where conditions can vary and movement is part of the experience—even on calm days. While many guests manage well with preventive medication, it’s not guaranteed, and tours range from 3 to 7 hours, with no option to return early due to seasickness.

There are many over-the-counter and natural remedies available, and some should be taken a few hours in advance, so be sure to follow the directions. We also offer motion sickness remedies for purchase at check-in if needed.

If you begin to feel unwell during the tour, let our crew know right away—early intervention makes a big difference. We can help reposition you on the boat and provide items like ginger ale, crackers, and ginger candy to help ease symptoms.

To prepare, we recommend getting a good night’s rest and avoiding alcohol or acidic drinks (like coffee or orange juice) before your tour, as these can make symptoms worse.

    Holoholo Stays With You.

Holoholo is a Hawaiian word that means to go out for pleasure––a walk, a stroll, a sail. We think that’s a pretty good way to describe a day on the water.

Out here, the ocean makes the rules. Our job is to help you experience it safely, comfortably, and with the kind of care that lets you stay fully present in the moment.

If you step off the boat feeling a little more connected to this place than when you came aboard, we’ve done our job. Our goal is for you to remember more than the views. We hope you'll remember how it felt to be out here.
